Days 12 and 13 - Montreal

Days 12 and 13 - Montreal

26.08.2013

Montreal is really worth being seen. The city and the harbourfront seem similar to european French cities and offers lots of Entertainment. The roads are clean and vivid, especially in the nights, and the people are very polite.
Right after arrival we made a City Harbour boat tour to get first impressions of Montreal. The guidance was bilingual in English and France. In the evening we spent much time in the streets and enjoyed the french flair of the town.
On Tuesday we made a bus city tour to many places worth seeing.
The evening Performance took place in the slovenian Mission of Montreal, where we could present a part of our varaious programme to a big audience.
On Wednesday we continued our tour to Ottawa.

25.08.2013

After lots of touristic highlights during the week, on Sunday a marathon of perfomances was on the itinerary.

It started with a holy mass in the parochial church on Browns Line. After that a couple of friends said good bye, for they had to return home.

We remaining rode to Pickering, where we had our next perfomances in Holiday Gardens resort. One more mass and a music afternoon for lots of visitors ended late in the evening.

Day 10 - kultural tours

24.08.2013

On Saturday a part of our group visited the Indian museum near Hamilton and made a lot of nice fotos.

In the afternoon they visited St. Jacobs`s Farmers market, the biggest whole year market in Canada.

The second part of our group went to Toronto for shopping and sightseeing.

Days 7 to 9 - Niagara Falls

Days 7 to 9 - Niagara Falls

21.08.2013

Some came from Montreal, the others from the Chandos Lake. We met - no, not in the middle but in Niagara Falls.

Immediately after our arrival in the evening we admired the brightly lit waterfalls. The next day we became aware of the full size of Niagara Falls and American Falls.

Around this natural wonder, a huge theme park has been created in recent decades, which we savoured to the full.

The first part of our tour is rather designed as holiday for the members of the Oktet Suha and their families. So we could form two groups which visited different goals depending on interests.

One group visited the Kottage of Karl Oseli, a relative of the Kristof family (Vida and Irene), on Chandos Lake. It is "very close" - three hours to drive from Toronto.

The second group went on an even longer trip to Montreal, a huge city in the province of Quebec.

Day 4 - Hamilton

Day 4 - Hamilton

18.08.2013

On Sunday, the 18th of August 2013, we were "on duty" for the first time.

First the Oktet Suha and the trio Lipusch framed worship for the slovenian parish of St. Gregor. After the service there was a small reception with the possibility of contact.

In the afternoon we were invited to a "picnic" of the "Prekmursko društvo večerní zvon". A picnic with over 1000 visitors.

The Oktet Suha gave a concert concert, after that the Trio Lipusch entertained the enthusiastic audience.

Day 3 - Boat-tour Toronto Harbour

Day 3 - Boat-tour Toronto Harbour

17.08.2013

Toronto is a huge city located on Lake Ontario. Therefore, it is obvious to see the city and its unique skyline from the water - which we did.

Apart from the leader who was hard to understand, we were "led" by our Paul in his zellaner dialect, which caused some surprise for tourists traveling with us.

Day 2 - City-tour Toronto

Day 2 - City-tour Toronto

16.08.2013

Right after breakfast we drove with our buses to the city center of Toronto. At the harbor a roofless double-decker bus awaited us.

The amusing guide told much about Toronto, its neighborhoods, the sights, etc. - if we could understand her. Her laugh was certainly the highlight.

Then we went at high speed upon the 553m high CN Tower, the landmark of Toronto. The view was breathtaking, even the coffee was good.

CANADA, HERE WE ARE

CANADA, HERE WE ARE

15.08.2013

Wonderful flights with Austrian Airlines from Klagenfurt/Celovec via Vienna to Toronto Pearson Airport brought our singers, musicians and friends to the biggest city in Kanada with about 5,5 million inhabitants. At the airport we were expected by our “guide” Jokej who has been already there for a few days and Marija and Branko Salajko, two Slovenes living in Toronto.
After a one hour drive througt the streets and highways of Toronto we reached the Hotel Admiral Inn in Mississauga. After the quick check-in we went out for dinner into a nice all inclusive restaurant near the hotel. Then only sleeping was on the programme.
